Visibility / GROW
Website versus SEO: what do you buy, and what comes next?
A new website, technical continuity and active visibility serve different purposes. Choose the work that addresses your current business need.
Developing a website and reaching customers through search are different engagements. BUILD creates a professional digital foundation. GROW is optional recurring work on visibility and conversion. CARE provides technical continuity within an agreed scope.
For an international business in the Netherlands, this distinction helps you assess what a proposal actually covers. Website delivery does not automatically begin an SEO subscription. Agree who handles content, technology and visibility after the build.
BUILD: create a usable digital foundation
Start with the audience, services and intended next step. Information architecture, UX, design and development then turn that brief into a working website. Pages and content should help visitors understand the offer and decide whether to enquire.
Technical foundations can cover performance, metadata, internal links, semantic content and crawlability. Deciding which pages may be indexed is part of the work. A preview should remain excluded from indexing until publication is deliberately approved.
Record the deliverables: pages, copy, languages, forms and checks. Agree what the business supplies and what the studio produces. Monthly research or new content is not automatically included in the construction of a website.
GROW: work on visibility and useful enquiries
Ongoing SEO starts with a business question: which relevant customers do you want to reach, and what do they need to understand? Research into search questions and the existing site helps identify whether to improve service pages, develop useful content or clarify local information.
An agreed plan may cover local SEO, content, purposeful landing pages, internal linking and an appropriate Google Business Profile. Search Console and other agreed measurements can support evaluation. They do not replace a clear goal or justify tracking visitors without the required permission.
Conversion work examines what happens after someone reaches the site. Is the offer understandable? Can they find the right service? Does the enquiry route work? A larger visit count alone does not establish that the business receives more suitable enquiries.
- A purpose
Identify the customer group and the question the next improvement should answer.
- A scope
Agree which research, pages and evaluation fit within the period of work.
- A review
Assess delivered work and available signals, allowing for uncertainty and changes to the plan.
CARE: keep the technology functioning
Technical continuity concerns the ongoing operation of the website. Depending on the agreement, it may cover technical checks, maintenance, recovery and handling changes. Clarify responsibilities, availability and exclusions before committing to recurring support.
CARE is not SEO. Technical maintenance does not automatically write new service pages, research keywords or provide a marketing plan. A business can need maintenance and visibility work at the same time, but they should have separate scopes and budgets.
Choose the work that addresses your current constraint
If you do not have a usable website, creating a clear foundation may come first. If a technically sound site explains the offer poorly, content and structure may need attention. If the offer is clear and you want to better serve relevant search questions, discuss a focused growth plan.
Consider an installation company in the Netherlands that already receives referrals. Its first need may be a clear service and contact structure for Dutch customers. Reaching an additional audience through search is a separate objective. Not every business needs recurring SEO from day one.
Compare one-time development and recurring services separately. Check whether a figure is a fixed scope, a starting price or a bespoke proposal. Low initial costs are difficult to assess when obligations after delivery are unclear.
Agree what can be assessed without promising rankings
You can agree deliverables, content choices and a review process. You cannot secure a fixed search position by agreement. Competition, demand, the business offer and changes to search systems are not wholly controlled by a studio.
Avoid promises of first positions, guaranteed traffic or fixed ranking timelines. Launching a website does not automatically produce enquiries or sales. Instead, examine whether useful information is available and what reliable, permitted measurements actually show.
When data is limited, conclusions should remain provisional. Record what changed and what is still uncertain. This makes SEO a sequence of reasoned improvements rather than a subscription to a promised outcome.
Make the next request specific
Do you need a new website, technical support or work on visibility? Describe the current situation, your customers in the Netherlands and the constraint you want to address. Ask for a proposal that separates BUILD, CARE and GROW.
A suitable scope can begin with one of these jobs. You do not need to commission everything together. Choose what the business and its customers need now, then make later steps deliberately.
